ART TALK
Meet Anthony Latella, local artist and member of the East Suburban Artists League

When: Wednesday, December 12, 2018 - 6:30 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library

Meet photographer Anthony Latella who will be on hand December 12 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss his work which will be on display from December 4 through the end of the month at Murrysville Community Library.

From Mr. Latella: "Photography, like golf, is a work in progress; one must continue to work at it, like a golf swing. My goal is to learn each day I have the camera in my hand and hope each photo I take is worth the effort to display on the wall."

AAUW/Murrysville Community Library December Program

When: Thursday, December 13, 2018 - 9:30 a.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

The topic for the December 13 meeting will be “Indian Attack and Massacre at Turtle Creek, July 1759” with Bob Learzaf and Carl Patty

The program is open to the public and requires no advanced registration.

Dog Reading Pals
What? Dogs can't read! Of course they can't, but they are great listeners.

When: Friday, December 14, 2018 - 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Library

Children are invited to read aloud to therapy dogs on the second Friday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us on December 14. Our therapy dogs and their owners encourage children to read at their own pace in a relaxed and non-judgmental environment.

This is a drop-in program and does not require registration.

PLAY DATE @ YOUR LIBRARY

When: Monday, December 17, 2018 - 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library

Come and hang out at the Library on Monday mornings (except December 24, and December 31) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This unstructured drop-in play time offers both kids and grown-ups an opportunity to mingle with others and make new friends. A few early learning items will be available to encourage imaginative play. Feel free to bring coffee for you, snacks for your child, and toys to share. Expand your social network and have fun too!

No registration is required for this drop-in program.

The Tailor of Gloucester - A tale of Christmastime kindness
Read aloud by Beatrix Potter Society member Anne Troxell

When: Monday, December 17, 2018 - 6:30 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

The Murrysville Community Library invites everyone from kindergarten through adult to experience a “Heart-warming Christmas,” presented by Ann Troxell, Beatrix Potter Society member. Join us on Monday, December 17 from 6:30pm to 7:15pm to hear Beatrix Potter’s favorite tale, “The Tailor of Gloucester,” read aloud. This story set in the ancient English cathedral city of Gloucester illustrates acts of kindness at Christmastime. Following, enjoy a cup of tea and mouse-tastic cookies while experiencing Troxell’s collection of endearing story-related collectibles!

Applebee's Dining to Donate Program allows everyone to "Enjoy A Meal That's Filling and Fulfilling" by eating in or trying their Carside to Go service. Applebee's will donate to the Library 15% of total sales to Murrysville Community Library supporters on December 20.

DAYTIME BOOK GROUP
A new, Library-sponsored book group held during daytime hours.

When: Thursday, December 20, 2018 - 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

Our new daytime book club will continue on November 15 at 11:00 a.m. and then will meet on the third Thursday of each month at the same time. The book selected for the November meeting will be The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.  Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk.

CHAIR YOGA - A free class for adults

When: Monday, January 7, 2019 - 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Chair Yoga (chair and standing work) is designed to strengthen and stretch the body. Students will learn how to use the breath to relax the mind and body.
