The Murrysville Community Library officially began the first day of construction for its Adult & Teen Room renovation on January 5, marking a major step forward in a project designed to modernize the main-floor space for adult and teen patrons and promote access to broadband services.
Construction crews arrived on site early and immediately began transformative work. The team tore up the old carpet, moved library shelves and stacks to prepare for the installation of new flooring, and removed outdated shelving units that are being replaced as part of the updated layout.
“This was the moment we’ve been working toward,” said Kat Neidig, Library Director. “Seeing the carpet come up and the space begin to change makes the renovation feel real. It’s exciting!”
While this work is underway, the main floor remains closed to the public for safety and to allow construction to move forward efficiently. However, patrons can still access many popular materials that are normally housed on the main floor. Adult new books, large print, daily newspapers, fiction DVDs, young adult new books, WIRC books, and young adult graphic novels are available in the Conference Room. Please stop by the Front Desk and ask staff for help—we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.
The Children’s Room remains open as usual. MCL will continue sharing updates as the renovation progresses, including what patrons can expect during each stage and how services may shift temporarily to keep library access as smooth as possible. For ongoing updates, patrons are encouraged to follow the library on our website and social media.
