Upcoming Programs:

History of the Census:

Explore the history of the US Census from the very beginning and how it has evolved to the entity it is today. Discover how the Census helps our communities and how filling out your census has tangible effects on local municipalities. A representative from the 2020 Census will share a video demonstration covering how to complete your census online and will be here to answer any questions on the upcoming Census. The program is on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m., registration is not required.

Gardening 101:

The Murrysville Garden Club will hose a program entitled “Gardening 101”. The speaker will be Becky Griffith, owner of Shadowwood Gardens in Latrobe, PA. Becky will talk about the key factors in starting a healthy, flourishing planting, whether it be a container patio garden, a vegetable plot, or a backyard flower garden. Invited are first-time gardeners, gardeners who want to hone their skills, any anyone suffering from an early case of spring fever. Come talk plants! AAUW:

All programs of the AAUW are offered in partnership with the Murrysville Community Library and are open to the public.  Programs typically begin at 9:30 a.m.

Art Talks – East Suburban Artists League:

Each month the East Suburban Artists League features one of their artists through an exhibit in the Library.  Some artists choose to give an art talk and discuss their work, while others are simply content for visitors to appreciate their art on display.

Author Events:

Throughout the year the Library will host various authors to speak on their work, share their techniques, and explore diverse topics.

Chair Yoga:

 Chair Yoga (chair and standing work) is designed to strengthen and stretch the body.  One will learn how to use the breath to relax the mind and body.  Essential Oils will also be used during Chair Yoga class and discussed following each class.

Book Club – Tuesday Evening:

The Tuesday Evening Book Club meets at the Murrysville Community Library every third Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  The Tuesday Evening Book Club reads a wide variety of titles that inspire passionate discussion among group members.

Book Club – Thursday Morning:

The Daytime Book club meets at the Murrysville Community Library at 11:00 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

Library Knitters:

If you’re interested in learning how to knit or in honing your craft, we have a group for you!  Bring your craft of choice and share in stimulating conversation and crafting, and advance your knowledge of the craft.  No registration required.

Plant-based Nutrition Group:

The Plan-based Nutrition Group is a group of like-minded individuals who meet monthly at the Murrysville Community Library.  The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning and sharing information about healthy plant-based food choices.  Meetings are the last Wednesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  There are also the occasional Saturday meetings at 1:00 p.m. for those that are new to the plant-based lifestyle.

Socrates Café:

Socrates Café is an affiliate of the Society for Philosophical Inquiry.  New members are always welcome; we believe a diversity of opinion is important for a true exchange of ideas.  The group meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Library.  Registration is not required, but it is recommended to check the calendar for any date changes.
